One of my favourite pockets in London will always be Soho. I've worked in the area pretty much since Day One of Reality, post graduation. There are always little shops, bars, coffee shops or restaurants popping up. So, thinking I was a Soho know-it-all I wanted to kick myself for not having this amazing place on my radar sooner! Cue *Hello, McFly* moment.
The Society Club is a bookshop-gallery-cocktail bar and if that's not impressive enough...it's dog friendly! HUGE winner in my eyes! It sits on the corner at the end of Ingestre Place- a quiet side street in bustling Soho.
There's a communal table in the middle of the shop, with cake stands offering tea cakes and biscuits for 50p. There's an impressive cocktail menu too if you need something harder than a cup of tea. Bookshelves line the walls and framed photographic art lead the way to the gallery downstairs. There is even homemade jam on display for sale.
Babette Kulik, one of the owners, greeted us warmly as we walked in and so did her adorable bow tie wearing King Charles Spaniel. And that was it. I was pretty much in love. After checking the £1 cart of books, we picked a little corner and made ourselves comfy. I spotted an old edition of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty Four in a cabinet alongside a copy of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot (which, thanks to A'Level Drama class, I will always associate with the Muppet's Swedish Chef)

I could have stayed all evening for the music alone- I could totally see myself sitting in the corner reading a book for a cosy few hours-until one of these fuzzy critters makes an appearance...honestly I can barely hold a conversation as soon as anything with four legs is within a 1 mile radius of me.

Look at that face! It says you must visit The Society Club immediately. He obviously means business.
I'm already looking forward to my next hangout at here!
Drinks finished, we left to sniff out some cake at L'Eto Caffe on Wardour Street- just next door to the Hummingbird Bakery.

| Apple Maple cake |
There's no frill or fancy at L'Eto Caffee- the pretty little cakes and tarts are displayed in the front window and there's a few small tables inside. But it's comfortable, usually quiet, and the carrot cake is goooood. Plus, they don't skimp out on the icing...
Just to be different, I gave the Apple Maple cake a go. And it tasted just like the carrot cake! A hint of spice and cinnamon- however you couldn't taste any apple or maple. But it was still delicious. And I still consumed all 300000 calories of it.
Dogs, cake, tea, cocktails...Soho, I proper love you.
